Primary CCL, ECA & Outsourced CCA
At Sri KDU International Primary School we believe that sports and the arts play just as big a part of school life as academic studies. There is significant evidence to demonstrate that activities pursued outside of normal school hours have a profound and positive impact upon the development and well-being of children.
We, at Sri KDU International Primary School pride ourselves on the successful programme we offer that accommodates all age groups through our CCA (Co-Curricular Activities) and our CCL (Co-Curricular Learning). We offer our children a safe and supervised environment in which they can pursue worthwhile and interesting activities that contribute to their overall social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.
The CCA and CCL programmes help children to build friendships with others who may share the same interests. Furthermore, these activities can help them build character and learn important life skills, such as teamwork, commitment to tasks, conflict resolution, prepare for a successful career and improve overall performance.
Perhaps one of the biggest advantages is that, depending on the type of activity, they can foster creativity - an important factor in a child's education. For many students, recreational activities play a significant role in developing worthwhile hobbies and later on, potential career options.
ECAs:
ECAs take place outside of the timetabled curriculum. This can be before school, at lunchtime or after school. The staff offer ECAs on a voluntary basis. The ECAs are readjusted termly. Some of the ECAs currently offered in Sri KDU International Primary School are: Choir, Football, Dance and Art.
In addition to the complimentary teacher-run ECAs, there is also an extensive outsourced (paid) CCA (Co-Curricular Activities) programme which parents can select from. Some of the outsourced CCAs currently offered are: Chinese Drumming, Chinese Yoyo, Karate and Public Speaking.
CCLs:
CCLs take place every Friday within the school day and are used to enhance learning and experiences for students that the National Curriculum of England does not include. Staff offer these activities based on their own passions, expertise and specialisms. The CCLs change from term to term but some of the CCLs offered in the past have included: Yoga, Scottish Dancing, Basketball and French. The structure of CCLs is planned so that students are assigned by staff to one sporting CCL and one artistic CCL to take part in each week.
The CCL programme in Sri KDU International Primary School is built around the principles of expose, experience and explore. We aim to expose children to a variety of activities, some of which they may not otherwise explore in their school or home life. This widens their experience and encourages them to try new things. There have been many talents and passions discovered during Sri KDU International Primary School CCL sessions.
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
